Dr. Frank-n-Furter (A Scientist)

as portrayed by Tim Curry

A “sweet transvestite” scientist from the planet of Transsexual, located in the galaxy of Transylvania. He is the master of a castle which serves as his laboratory and the setting for the majority of the Rocky Horror Picture Show. He is renowned for his decadence and self-indulgence, which in turn lead to his ultimate downfall.

Brad Majors (A Hero)

as portrayed by Barry Bostwick

A straight-laced man from Denton, Brad Majors is attempting to visit his old mentor, Dr. Everett V. Scott, with his new fiancee, Janet Weiss, when he stumbles upon Frank-n-Furter’s castle.

Janet Weiss (A Heroine)

as portrayed by Susan Sarandon

A simple-minded, naive, and innocent girl at the onset of the film, Janet Weiss “gives herself over to absolute pleasure” at the castle, despite her recent engagement to Brad Majors.

Riff-Raff (A Handyman)

as portrayed by Richard O’Brien

Brother/lover of Magenta and a disgruntled, Transylvanian underling of Dr. Frank-n-Furter, Riff-Raff eventually overthrows his master in order to return to his home planet.

Magenta (A Domestic)

as portrayed by Patricia Quinn

Sister and lover of Riff-Raff, Magenta serves as a maid under Frank-n-Furter and returns at the conclusion of the movie to Transylvania.

Columbia (A Groupie)

as portrayed by Little Nell aka Nell Campbell

An especially lusty Transylvanian, Columbia first falls in love with Frank-n-Furter, then Ex Delivery Boy, Eddie. She is systematically rejected by Dr. Frank-n-Furter, to her utter frustration.

Rocky Horror (A Creation)

as portrayed by Peter Hinwood

Created from scratch in the strange laboratory of Dr. Frank-n-Furter, Rocky Horror came into the world simply to serve as a plaything for his creator. Designed to be blonde, dreamy, and statuesque, Rocky’s knowledge of the world is limited to the purely lustful and sexual. He exists for a very short span of time, during which he has trysts with both Frank-n-Furter and Janet. He reflects Mary Shelley’s classic monster of Frankenstein, who is loved and then rejected by his creator.

Dr. Everett V. Scott (A Rival Scientist)

as portrayed by Jonathan Adams

Dr. Everett Scott, mentor of Brad and Janet and uncle of Eddie, wanders into the castle in search of his nephew and serves as the scientific voice of reason.

Eddie (Ex Delivery Boy)

as portrayed by Meat Loaf

Eddie from birth is a rotten egg, perpetually finding trouble. He is implied to have had sexual relations with both Dr. Frank-n-Furter and Columbia and seems to have no sense of control or sanity. He rushes to the castle to cause havoc, but leaves a note to his uncle revealing knowledge of the Transylvanians’ dastardly plans. Dr. Frank-n-Furter murders him out of anger.

The Criminologist (An Expert)

as portrayed by Charles Gray

Serving as something of a narrator to the story, the criminologist is omniscient and perhaps omnipresent, often appearing between scenes in the comfort of his study to provide explanations or commentary on that fateful night.
