The Players

Mostly As: Granny Weatherwax- She lives in the small kingdom of Lancre in a small cottage.              Picture by Lucas Ryan           She is  the oldest, toughest witch in her area. She is complemented by Nanny Ogg, another experienced, competent witch, if somewhat motherly and at the same time extremely interested in sex. To round out their coven (because the proper number for a coven is three) there Magrat Garlick who gets pushed around a lot by the older witches until she marries the king of Lancre, and even then they tell her what to do. After she leaves the coven, Agnes Nitt comes in. Agnes has a wonderful singing voice and can harmonize with herself. Her constant companion is Perdita X, who lives inside her and dares to contemplate all the things Agnes would never dream of doing.

Mostly Bs: Commander Vimes- Commander of the City Watch of Ankh-Morpork. He despises              Picture by Simon Lissaman     nobility and all its trappings; however, he marries the richest woman in Ankh-Morpork and eventually gets promoted to the level of Duke. He is consistently in a bad temper but the Watch puts up with it because he is an excellent leader and he looks out for his crew. This crew includes a troll, a dwarf, a werewolf, a man who should be king, a rather lazy sergeant, and another man who has to have documents to prove that he is human.  Loyal but stubborn, he never lets an investigation rest, no matter how unpopular he gets or how many things go wrong. He is so hard to kill that the Assassin's Guild has set his fee at one million dollars.

Mostly Cs: Death- A skeletal figure in a cloak who carries a scythe and rides a white horse named              Picture by Catskind             Binky. His constant companion is the only other death on the Discworld to achieve physical manifestation, the Death of Rats.  Given to introspection and self-criticism, Death worries a lot about doing his job well and being a people person in general.  At one point he adopts a little girl whom he raises until she runs off with his new assistant Mort. He is very patient with people who are disoriented by their sudden demise, and he provides a good look at life overall because of the way he observes it from the outside. He tries so hard it can be sad.

Mostly Ds: The Librarian of Unseen University: A magical accident permanently                      Picture by Marcus Kuhn                        turned the  Librarian into an orangutan. He prefers this. People tend to be much more respectful of someone who can wrench their arm out of its socket at will. The Librarian tends to stay in the library unless there is some sort of entertainment going on in the city. He loves theater, opera, moving picture shows, concerts, and various other types of entertainment. He always get the seat he wants. No one knows his name anymore, and he wants to keep it that way. His life is often complicated by the wizards and other people upsetting reality. The wizards include the loud, no nonsense archchancellor, the bursar who takes hallucinogenic frog pills to stay close to sane, and various other lazy department chairs. The wizards avoid students like the plague. All they really want to do is eat, sleep, and occasionally have a night out.

Well, enough about them. Let's go Home
