The Crow, Daredevil, and Anakin all share one common trait:  by most standards, they should be villains.  They have every right to be so.  Each one has endured heavy emotional stress, the loss of a loved one, and each also has the means to exact revenge on those who wronged them.  Why then, are the heroes?  Are they heroes?  The are capable of killing out rage, but are they justified?  Are they really as bad as they seem, or are they more victims than anything?  What do I mean when I call them "fallen angels"?  Could any of these people be called angels?

These essays are designed to answer those questions, or at least shed some light on them.

Heavenly Rights

When law and order fail, do we have the power and authority to take matters into our own hands?  These three characters apparently do.  This essay examines the appeal of vigilantes to American culture and tries to find out if Eric, Matt, or Anakin see the irony in their methods.

Masks and Mirrors

Everyone acts differently around different sorts of people.  For the gray heroes on this site, though, their behavior is radically different once they put on their masks, physical or otherwise.  This essay explores the metaphors associated with their "split personalities."

The War in Heaven

Finally, what exactly do is meant by "fallen angel"?  Aren't angels supposed to be virtuous beings of light?  Well… it's complicated.  This essay not only attempts to shed some light on the metaphor, but also what type of angel each character on this site would be.
