Overview In September of 1999, a movie was released that would go on to acquire one of the biggest cult followings a movie has ever had since Star Trek. Starring Keanu Reeves, Lawrence Fishburne and Carrie Anne Moss, this cyberpunk movie walked away with four Oscars, among the many other awards it received for special effects, direction, science fiction awards in particular, through the course of 2000. Directed by Andy and Larry Warchowski, this movie called The Matrix was followed by its two sequels, Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions, the last of the trilogy released late in 2003.
