INTRODUCTION

This website is devoted to Ray Bradbury's The Martian Chronicles (1950), a series of science fiction short stories dealing with the colonization or Mars and life on it thereafter. Beyond the setting, there is no real unifying factor throughout the book, although groups of stories do share a common theme. Among these is the Colonization of Mars, the Life on Mars, and The Departure. A long-time fan of Bradbury, the author believes that his works still maintain their importance and poignancy over 55 years after their creation, and almost a decade after the first rockets left for Mars.
