Victor Martinez of UFO Digest states... This movie could prove to be very important to UFOlogists and to mankind in general. If the contents of the movie live up to their billing then millions of people will have the opportunity to experience alien abductions and realize the real horror inflicted on the abductees. It scares the hell out of me. Brendan Warling of empiremovies.com says... I'm not really sure if I was ever a believer or a disbeliever when it came to the existence of extraterrestrial life. It's something that's always been in the back of my mind, but it never seemed there was concrete evidence that aliens have visited our planet. I can assure you of one thing- The Fourth Kind made me a believer. I don't think there's any other explanation for what we are shown in this movie. I read one theory online that suggests that the abnormal number of suicides and disappearances in Nome, Alaska since the 1960's are related to alcoholism and the harsh landscape and climate. I don't know about you but I've never seen a drunk person levitate. I've never seen a harsh climate make someone speak a three thousand year-old language. Nor have I ever seen bad weather make someone open their mouth so wide taht they could probably swallow a basketball. It's all pretty surreal if you ask me. Matt Carrick of The Pittsburg Horror Movie Examiner states... It seems likely though, that eventually news will break that none of it is real. The construction of the whole thing just seems a bit too convenient, especially the never-mentioned video interference in each of the 'archive' clips of encounters and phenomena. We never really see the good stuff (convulsions, levitation, abductions) but we're shown just enough to understand what's going on. Personally, if I were an alien intelligence who could reprogram people's memories, I'd wipe the whole tape rather than leaving clues behind for Milla Jovovich. In retrospect, it's hard to take any of the film seriously, there are just too many gaping plot holes. But at least for the two hours you're in the theatre, it really comes back to the same question posed by nearly every alien movie: Do you want to believe? Vic Holtreman of Screenrant says... If you don't buy into the concept at least a little bit, then The Fourth Kind will leave you as cold as Paranormal Activity did for people who didn't go along for the ride with that film. However if you let it get to your head, I think you'll find that The Fourth Kind is even more effective at freaking you out and causing you some nervousness after you turn off the last light at night and head off to bed. |
